JOB PURPOSE:
. Develop & implement sourcing strategies for Packing Material categories (Rigid Plastics Packaging) for India & Exports, ensuring continuous packaging at sites and optimization of costs.
. Develop & implement sourcing strategies for Plastics based Promotion items to ensure delivery of value on promotions.
. Apply Procurement skills to the procurement of Packing Materials that meet customer requirements and that deliver added value & savings for the business.
. Develop & implement sourcing strategies for Packing Material categories (Rigid Plastics Packaging) for India & Exports, ensuring continuous packaging at sites and optimization of costs.
. Develop & implement sourcing strategies for Plastics based Promotion items to ensure delivery of value on promotions.
. Apply Procurement skills to the procurement of Packing Materials that meet customer requirements and that deliver added value & savings for the business.
DIMENSIONS OF THIS ROLE
COMPLEXITY & INDEPENDENT THINKING:
1. Forecast prices systematically & accurately for major spend areas in a focused way for given supply markets.
2. Analyse expenditure to establish potential future price change impact on purchasing portfolio and the total forecast impact of purchasing activity on future business profitability.
3. Managing the critical sourcing of Plastic promotional items at 32 depots in the country, balancing risk & innovation to ensure delivery of value on promotions.
a. Non performance has a direct impact on sales
b. Requirement is non repetitive and needs to be executed RFT and speed – conceptualization, development to delivery in 4 months.
c. Sound judgement and empowerment required for making strategic/tactical balance work. Represent Procurement in Health Drinks EBTs and drive project activities and deliverables without the need for regular upward reference to higher purchasing levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direction Setting:
1. Leads & drives translation of procurement objectives into sourcing group objectives for the category in order to ensure that sourcing group tasks & aims are articulated, understood & accepted by the team and the business.
Implement of sourcing strategies for OTIF (On Time, In Full) supply of materials within agreed budgets.
2. Understands & interprets the overall business direction & objectives and develops & aligns plans for the category to enable their achievement.
3. Develops plans and systems & processes to optimize the utilisation of resources for the category in order to successfully achieve business objectives.
4. Recognises strategic opportunities for business success in the category and challenge the status quo in order to champion Change and implement new initiatives through Sourcing Group Team.
Identify, lead & promote initiatives to generate continuous improvement on Costs, Quality & Service.
Business Planning:
1. Constructs & uses budgets to manage & monitor spends for the category and ensures that adjustment processes are in place for over/under achievement.
Procurement Practices:
1. Applies defined processes; SGM tools & techniques and OE through team in line with assigned areas of expenditure.
2. Identifies opportunities and uses a broad range of strategies in order to achieve cost control, cost containment targets and add value to area of expenditure through a total cost orientation.
3. Ensures thorough analysis of supply markets relative to category of expenditure in order to logically substantiate the evaluation of sourcing group & supplier management strategies.
4. Manage relationships and ways of working with key suppliers in order to align understanding & commitment with customer expectations.
Gather knowledge of supply markets, evaluate impact on purchase category & supplier management strategies through data analysis, option weightage and take decisions.
5. Applies the right supplier relationship spectrum viz., Leverage, Preferred, Partnership or Strategic Alliance in order to satisfy business needs.
6. Negotiates at tactical & strategic level to develop complex business unit and major company purchasing contracts appropriate to category of expenditure.
People:
1. Ensures that functional communication processes are in place in order to encourage the creation of an atmosphere that fosters seamless & timely flow of information and provides open access to information.

Experience/Knowledge/Technical Skills Required:
Qualification & Experience
Qualification & Experience
2-3 years experience in Plastics Packaging Material development, procurement and supply chain.
Knowledge
Knowledge of Budgeting & Forecasting process
Knowledge of categories and understanding of price movements and cost drivers.
Understanding of the Polymer industry (both raw material manufacturing and conversion)
Knowledge of Sourcing Group objectives & deliverables for Procurement.
Knowledge of SGM process and LeanSigma principles and application of required tools in the creation & implementation of source plans.
Knowledge of company’s strategy creation process and its linkages with Procurement.
Technical Skills
Project Management skills
Ability to use cost management tools to achieve cost control, cost reduction & cost containment.
Ability to handle complex supply chain comprising multi-site/location operations
Ability to strengthen supplier management to drive for supplier cost reductions and deliver cost savings to the business.
Ability to adjust / modify course of action basis financial characteristics & behaviours of relevant supply markets.
